Kevin walks into the kitchen. Denise asks if Libby is up yet. He says that Pat will see her off and then keep out of the way with everything that is going on. Oh easy as that eh? Denise says. Denise says she is not sure Chelsea and Dean will even get bail. Kevin says “you heard what the brief said, it will be fine. She says and what about Sean? How long before he’s out. Denise says she can’t even remember what Chelsea was wearing. She hugs Kevin and says “how can someone you love to do something that was so bad?”

Lucy is typing in her blog when Peter comes in. He asks if she’s trying to get in touch with that Craig cause you won’t have much luck now that he’s banged up!” Ian asks if everything is alright with his big brave girl. She tells him yes. They leave, and she starts blogging again.

Phil wakes up in the Arches. He pulls out a bottle. He looks at his wallet and a photo of him and Ben.

Jase tells Jay to hurry up. Jay tells him he doesn’t eat porridge. He tells Jase that he doesn’t have to go to school as it is an inset day. Just then the phone rings, and it’s Jay’s teacher looking for him.

Ian’s booked a holiday without talking to Jane. She says he hasn’t even asked the school for permission. He thought she was going to do that. She wonders if he thinks this is a good idea. He says they need it. She says with Craig now being arrested they may want to talk to Lucy. Ian says why should they? She says that she did go off with him. He says it was only because he talked her into it. Jane reminds him that Lucy is a young woman if he hasn’t noticed. He thinks Lucy is fine she’s just a bit off the rails since they married. Jane says “oh so this is down to me?” He says no but a few days away will be good for them.

Jase asks Jay what he’s doing not going to school. Jay tells him he doesn’t need math. He knows what he wants to be when he grows up. Jase asks him what that is? Jay tells him he wants to be a chippy just like him. Jase says you what? Jay says “yeah I could be your apprentice.” Jase tells him he has to go to school.

Phil is sitting on the bench in the square. He hears “Dad! Dad, I’ve been looking all over for you!” He stands up to see it’s another father and son. He looks over at the Vic. Peggy comes down the stairs in the Vic and picks up Ben’s books and jacket. Ronnie comes around asking if the lager has been changed. She didn’t realize it was Peggy. Ronnie asks her if she’s ok? Peggy says she’s alright. Just then Phil bangs on the door and tries to use his key. He calls out “Mum! Mum!! Come on open up it’s me! Are you there or what? I need to see Ben.” he walks off.

Kevin and Denise arrive home with Chelsea and Dean. Denise sees a sold sign going up at the home they were going to buy. Kevin walks up behind her and says he’s so sorry. She says to leave her alone for a while.

Ronnie, Roxie, and Peggy discuss where Phil could be headed. Roxy says if he has another skinful then what? Charging in there like the Incredible Hulk. Peggy says he won’t. Ronnie wonders how she knows. Peggy says she had plenty of experience with his father. She tells the girls to get cracking they’ve got to open up.

Denise is walking down the traders’ stalls. Stacey tells her she better get used to the stares. She says that her brother will be coming home soon. Denise tells Stacey if he knows what’s good for him he will stay away from her family. Stacey tells her he had nothing to do with Dean’s beating. Denise tells her if that’s true then why did he boast to Carly about it? Stacey looks puzzled.

Jane takes Phil’s order. Ian comes in and asks him what Phil wants. She tells him bacon, egg, and beans. Ian wants to go over and tell him he needs to be a better father. Jane asks him if they have enough with Lucy. Just then a large funeral looking arrangement comes in for Beale. Jane says oooh that’s me. They are puzzled he didn’t order them for her.

Dean can’t believe Carly is gone. Chelsea says she can after what she did to them. (Kevin is lurking in the hall) Chelsea says she wonders what will happen when Sean finds out. That will be something else for him to blame them for. Dean wonders if she ever thinks about anyone but herself? She says maybe it is true they would have been safer inside. Kevin comes in and says wind your necks in. No one is going to let Sean Slater do anything. We are all on the same side. Alright? Chelsea says “well mum she hasn’t said a word to us,” Kevin says it’s not easy watching your kids stand up in court. Dean asks if she’s alright with what Kevin did? He says he hasn’t told her yet. Dean says “you can’t just lie!” Kevin says that is rich coming from the two of them. Kevin explains that he has put her through enough in the past and he can’t do this to her right now. Chelsea says she’ll forgive him again. Kevin says he’s not taking the chance. He’s already lost Carly over this, and he’s not about to lose Denise.

Ian tells Jane to lighten up as its obviously a mistake, and she’s got free flowers now. Jane says she knows, but it’s a bit odd, isn’t it? She grabs the card and says it says Mr. Beale, not Mrs.

Chelsea walks into the kitchen to find Denise. Denise asks her where Kevin is. Chelsea says he’s over at the car lot. Dean has gone for a lie down she says. Denise tells her that she doesn’t want them going out today. Chelsea asks her why? What has she heard? Denise tells her that they should all do what she says. Chelsea grabs Denise’s arm and says “but Mum! I’m really scared about what might happen.” Denise gives her a steely cold stare and says “It’s a shame you never thought about that before you put an innocent man in jail.” Denise pulls her arm away from Chelsea’s grip.

Sean is walking down the street as Stacey sees him. She wonders why he didn’t call her to tell her he was getting out today. He says he just wanted to get out of there. He asks her for the front door key. She says she knows it was probably rough in there. Sean says “what enough to do me head in?”

Denise tells Chelsea that she sat in that car this morning all the way back from court waiting for her to say something. Chelsea says that she is sorry and she made a mistake. She knows what she did was wrong, but she put her hand up in court this morning and said as much. I’m going to have to pay for it. Denise says “just you? What about Carly? Dean? Patrick? WELL! YOU made a mistake alright! You took advantage of an innocent old man who had been beaten and robbed. Chelsea says I wasn’t exactly thinking at the time. Denise says “Oh you are telling me. Patrick is like family to us. He’s the closest thing to a grandfather that you will ever have. You don’t even care what’s happened to him. You’re so tied up in your own self-pity. He is afraid of his own shadow. He can’t even work.” Chelsea says “Oh go on rub it in why don’t you? What more do you want me to say?” Denise slaps Chelsea square across the face and tells her to get out. She marches her to the door.

Outside on the square, Stacey is talking to Sean about how she shouldn’t have brought their mum to see him. He says he doesn’t take notice as she’s the only one who listens to her. She reminds him that she believed him through all of this. They hear banging on the door and see Chelsea and Denise at the Trueman’s door. Patrick comes out and says he was just taking a nap. Denise tells him that they don’t need to come in. They will stay right there so that the whole square can hear just how sorry her daughter is. (A crowd has gathered to watch the commotion, Sean and Stacey included.) She turns back to Chelsea and says to go on. An apology is the least you can offer. Don’t you think that Patrick deserves that? Patrick says “This isn’t necessary. Denise says “Oh yes it is. Eh? Well, what are you waiting for? Cat got your tongue? Cause the lies come easily enough.” Chelsea cries out “mum” Denise turns around and yells out “False statements that put an innocent man in prison. She’s sorry for all of it, aren’t ya? Well, you know what I’m sorry too. I’m sorry I managed to bring up such a sorry spoiled cow for a daughter!” Chelsea says “I’m not supposed to speak to witnesses as part of my bail conditions.”

Kevin walks up behind. He says “Denise,” and she turns not really aware of all the people starring. She tells him to get her home before she kills her. Denise storms off. Kevin grabs Chelsea, and she yells out to everyone “what are you looking at? You’ve all had your fun!” Kevin tells her he’ll get her home where she should stay put. Stacey says she hopes she gets what’s coming to her. Sean says she will. Stacey warns him off from doing anything to her. He tells her not to worry he’s not crazy.

Ian wonders “why me?” He asks her to give him the card for the florist so he can give them a call. Jane tells him that he wasn’t that bothered when he thought they were for her. He says right address, right name… Jane adds right funeral. Another delivery comes in for Mr. Beale just then.

Kevin tells Denise that Chelsea got the message. Denise says this is all her fault. Kevin says no it isn’t. All you can do is your best that is all any parent can do. Denise says it is,” she’s her daughter. She made her. She taught her to stick up for herself and never let anyone take advantage. Maybe I taught her too well.”Kevin sits down. She says “no matter the mistakes I made, I always thought they’d turn out well.” She realizes she wasn’t there for Carly either. She wishes that she’d come to them, told them. She swears she would have gone to the police. Kevin says he is going to go get some fish and chips.

Chelsea is staring out the window and sees Patrick carrying out some boxes and papers.

Ian gets off the phone with the florist but the person who ordered them paid cash. Jane suggests it might have been Lucy. Ian is determined it wasn’t her. Jane says that anything is possible after last week. Ian refuses to believe that. Phil is leaving a message for Ben. He wants to see him. Just then Ian brings the flowers over to Phil and tosses them on the table. He accuses Phil of having something to do with it. Phil sends him off.

Patrick is putting his recycling in the bins. Chelsea grabs a can. She tells him that what she said earlier it was true. She says that whatever he thinks she is really sorry. Patrick tells her that maybe it is best we don’t talk, for now. He tells her that her mother will come round too, in time.

Jay comes in from school. Jase tells him that there is more to life than being a chippy. He offers to give Jay a hand with his math.

Denise greets Chelsea at the door demanding to know where she’s been since she told her to stay put. Chelsea tells her that she went to go see Patrick. She thought that was what she wanted was for her to apologize. Denise asks her what if she’d run into Sean Slater. Chelsea tells her she didn’t. She tells her mum that she apologized and she feels a whole lot better. Denise tells her she’s glad someone does.

Phil comes through to go upstairs. Roxy tells Phil that he can’t go up there. Peggy tells Roxy it’s ok she couldn’t stop him. She says she’ll sort this out once and for all.

Lucy gets a message that says “I’m on my way” and smiles big. She seems very pleased. She goes to her closet and pulls out her bag. She grabs the gun and looks at it.

Chelsea yells at her mum that she is never going to let her live it down. She’s just going to add it to the list. Denise asks her what list? Chelsea replies the list of all the times I’ve let you down. Denise tells her to give it a rest. Chelsea tells her it’s never me who does anything right. It’s always just your precious star daughter. Denise tells her to leave Libby out of it. Chelsea whinges on about how her mum has never been proud of anything she’s done. She will tell her. It’s just in these last few weeks when she could be proud of her standing up and being a hero. Denise tells her not to dare. Chelsea continues whinging about how it is true. She says her mum brought the journalist down to write about it and that is why she is so angry. She’s angry that she shamed her to all of Walford. Chelsea continues with it wasn’t just down to her. Denise tells her that Deano wouldn’t have. Chelsea stops her and says “well maybe I am not just talking about Deano. Maybe someone else.” She walks out of the room. Denise chases her and tells her to quit lying again. She tells her she isn’t lying. Kevin walks in, and Chelsea tosses him in it by telling Denise she has a good mind to call the police. She points at Kevin and says he knew everything. Denise turns to look at Kevin who in turn shamefully looks at Denise.

Peggy is in the front room when Phil comes in. He wants to know where Ben is. She tells him that Ben is somewhere safe. He tells her she has no right. She says he would have if he hadn’t woke up not feeling well. After all, he’s been through she doesn’t blame him. She reminds him he’s a kid. He says that he is still his father. She asks him to think about what kind of father.

Ian wants to call the police. Jane asks him what he’d say. He reminds her of what Phil said. She reminds him of what he said. He said this isn’t some coincidence. Someone is trying to tell him something. Another delivers comes in. Ian opens it, and it’s a heart.

Phil looks at the bottles and says he can take it or leave it. Peggy tells him to stop kidding himself, he’s an alcoholic, and you know you are. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and take some responsibility.” Phil says oh you are blaming me? No one knew what she was doing. Not even you! Peggy tells him she wasn’t talking about Stella she was talking about him.

Jase and Jay are doing his math homework. Jase is trying, but he doesn’t understand it either.

Peggy and Phil continue to argue. She tells him that Ben is at Aunt Sal’s. She didn’t want him to come round and hear them screaming. She tells Phil he has to make a choice. Take the drink or be a dad. But you can’t do both. He takes the drink. She says “right! If that’s the way, you want it.” He says “what? You going to get Auntie Sal to lock me out too?” He grabs her wrist and says answer me! He shoves her into a table. Ronnie comes in and says “Oi if you want to take this out on someone then take it out on me.”

Lucy hears Peter call up and hurries to hide the gun. He comes in and asks her why she didn’t answer him. He sees the bag. He says “Lucy,” and she just looks at him.

Jane is throwing away the heart. Ian says this can’t have been Lucy. Jane wonders why not? It’s just a piece of meat someone had him pick up at the butchers. It’s a prank. Ian says “a prank? Is that what you’d call this? A prank? She couldn’t do this!”

Peter says so this is what you’re doing? Running away again? Can’t you think of a better way to get attention? He wonders what their dad will say. She says he has had loads of surprises today. Peter says that she has nowhere to go and no one to run to now that Craig is locked up. She says that is what he thinks! But someone is waiting for her. He says she’s lying. He demands she tell him. Lucy says “Mum, she’s coming for me. She’s taking me away!”
