Peggy watches out the window as Pat is outside smoking while the for sale sign is installed. Peggy says, “I thought she was dying, and all the time she was running away to Spain.” Roxy asks if Peggy thinks there is a fellow involved. Roxy asks if Peggy thinks Pat is lying? Peggy says, “Of course she is! She’s running away to Spain for a bloke. I have a good idea; I know who it is.” Roxy wonders who it might be. Peggy tells Roxy it’s no one she knows. Peggy turns to the window and says, “If she thinks she’s going to leave me here without a fight, then she has another thing coming.”
Clare and Chelsea walk into the caff. Clare tells Chelsea there can’t be two million Lucas Johnsons in the world. Chelsea tells Clare there are more than 2 million actually, and those are just the ones that come up on the computer. She goes on to say that her Dad might not even be one of them, so she may never know. Clare says “shame. Big house with a pool, shiny red convertible in the driveway.” Chelsea joins in the fun saying, “Ocean-going yacht and private jet. Clare says there is probably champagne flowing out of the golden taps in the bathroom. She tells Chelsea that if it were her Dad, she would make sure she found him. Clare suddenly gets an idea! She says, “Hang on what about that geeky sister of yours! Why don’t you ask her for help?” Chelsea tells Clare that Libby would find him in like five minutes. Clare asks why she won’t help her? Chelsea explains to Clare that she and Libby are not speaking because she borrowed a gift certificate. Clare tells her there is no way around it except maybe bribery. Chelsea asks Clare for twenty quid.
Pat asks Peggy, “You want me to come away with you for the weekend?” Peggy explains she was supposed to go with Sal. Pat says, “oh, I thought you were meant to go on your own?” Peggy tells Pat that it was meant to be a girls jolly weekend. Pat tells Peggy that she has a lot to do, so she isn’t sure. Peggy won’t take no for an answer and explains it’s only for one night. She tells Pat that she would be doing her a favor, really. Peggy tells Pat she doesn’t want to go on her own. Pat asks Peggy about the sleeping arrangements. Peggy tells Pat that it’s two singles. She explains to Pat that they can get a car off the car lot and it will be just like old times! Pat smiles and says, “Like Thelma and Louise,” Peggy says, “one last trip before you go off to Spain forever.” Pat agrees to go, and Peggy lets her know they’ll leave in an hour.
Chelsea comes in and hands Libby the twenty quid. She asks Libby to accept it as a first installment on the voucher she borrowed. Libby says Chelsea should give it to Yolande. Chelsea asks her to hold it for her until she can get the rest. Libby agrees and thanks to her. Chelsea tells Libby she borrowed her laptop last night. She says she hopes she doesn’t mind. Libby says she could have asked first. Chelsea replies that she was out. Libby wonders what she wanted it for anyway? Chelsea tells her that she was trying to trace someone. Libby wonders if it is anyone she knows. Chelsea hesitantly says no. Libby wonders if she had any luck? Chelsea explains she didn’t as she is useless when it comes to this stuff. Chelsea calls herself “thick as a brick.” Libby says that Chelsea is not thick. Chelsea says well she’s useless when it comes to computers. Libby explains she just has to take it to step by step. It’s logic. Chelsea smiles and calls her Miss Brainbox. Libby softens towards Chelsea and asks her if she needs some help. Chelsea says that she would. Libby wonders who she is looking for. Chelsea explains it is her Dad. Libby says, “your Dad? Why?” Chelsea says she wants to meet him. Libby tells Chelsea she can’t help her right now as she is busy with exams and papers that are due. Chelsea wants her help. Libby says that she feels like this is a mistake. She doesn’t know the first thing about her Dad. Chelsea says that is why she wants to find him. Libby says she doesn’t know what he’s like or will be like. How could she ask her after what happened? Libby says no. Chelsea walks out.
Pat and Peggy are on their way to their weekend away. Peggy asks Pat about the bloke in Spain. Pat asks, “what bloke in Spain?” Peggy says your bloke in Spain. Pat denies that there is a bloke. Peggy wonders what his name is. She starts guessing the names of men. Pat wonders how Peggy could think she’d ever considered a bloke named Arthur? Peggy is inspired to continue and declares that there is a bloke then. She continues with more names until she says, “Frank.” Pat tells Peggy to give her some credit. Peggy continues on with the names and says she will give her until tea time. Pat asks for what? Peggy says until she tells her his name. Pat turns on the music, and it’s “Leaving on a Jet Plane.”
Chelsea tells Libby to forget she said anything! Libby says she doesn’t need to find him. She reminds Chelsea that she has her, mum, Patrick and Yolande. Chelsea tells Libby to go back to her homework like a good little girl. Libby says that Chelsea’s Dad is no good. Chelsea tells Libby she doesn’t know that! Libby says it is what their mum says. Chelsea says their mum hasn’t seen him in over 20 years. Libby says “why do you think she’s kept you away from him for all these years?” Chelsea argues back that “who knows why their mum does the things she does?” Libby says if mum says it’s best left well alone, then that is good enough for me. Chelsea tells her she wishes she’d never told Libby. Chelsea says, “ok say that my Dad is like mum says. It doesn’t change that he’s my Dad and I’d still like to meet him.” Libby asks her to wait until their mum gets back. Chelsea says no. Libby suggest that they call their mum and maybe she knows where to find him? Chelsea says that this is their mum she is talking about. Does she really think she’s just going to take her by the hand and lead her to him? Libby explains that Denise just wants what is best for her. Chelsea says she is old enough to decide what is best for her. Libby says she just doesn’t think it’s a good idea. Chelsea explains she knows why Libby doesn’t think this is a good idea. But this ain’t about your Dad, it’s about mine she says to Libby. Libby says she wasn’t thinking about her Dad actually. Chelsea tells Libby that her Dad was not well. Owen was not well and he was not normal. Libby wonders what will happen if her Dad isn’t normal, either? Chelsea says that her Dad will be normal. Libby says she doesn’t know that! Chelsea tells her she’s never going to know now is she? Not if she doesn’t help her. Chelsea says the one small tiny thing she asks for help. She goes on to tell Libby she remembers what Owen did to her and their mum. She tells Libby she just wants to find her Dad and if she doesn’t help her, then she will find someone who will. Chelsea turns on the television and sits down.
Peggy tells Pat that she thinks what Pat is doing is very brave. Peggy says, never mind the weather. This place is gorgeous! They arrive at the hotel. Peggy says, “selling up and leaving London.” Pat reminds her she’s going to be fine. Peggy says she’s burning her boats. Pat quips back. She’s not burning anything she’s just moving to Spain. Peggy replies that everyone says once you leave London, you can’t afford to come back. Pat says she won’t want to come back. Peggy says she’s very brave leaving at her age, just picking up and leaving like that. She’s brave. Pat has had enough and asks her to spit out what she’s getting at. Peggy looks at her and just says, “brave.” They both move to get out, and Peggy is smiling. Pat inquires about spa services as Peggy continues to chide her about leaving. Finally, the concierge explains they have one back massage left. Pat takes it. Behind them are two gentlemen in coat and tophats. It seems they need two witnesses for a wedding. Peggy accepts and tells Pat she will have to give up her massage for love.
Libby makes Chelsea a sandwich and tells her she doesn’t want to fall out with her over this. Chelsea asks about her homework. Libby reads quotes from Shakespeare to Chelsea. Libby says if there was a reason to find him, she would help her. Chelsea wonders what sort of reason? Libby explains like her being ill or something and needing her genetic history. Libby tells Chelsea that this man is not really her Dad, he just fathered her. Libby tells her that she knows he may not hurt her in the way that her own Dad did. But there are many other ways he could. Libby stops and says that she just wants to look after her. Chelsea tells her that she is her kid sister, and she is supposed to be looking after her. Libby says that they need to look after one another. Chelsea tells her that she knows Libby is right. It might turn out really bad, but she’d just like to know where she comes from.
Pat and Peggy arrive all decked out for the wedding. Peggy tells Pat she could have made more of an effort. Pat declares that she changed her earrings! They greet the two gentlemen, and Peggy wonders where the bride is? One of them replies, “the bride?” Peggy says well you can’t have a wedding without the bride now, can you? Pat tells her that yes, you can get these days. He informs her that Nathan and himself are celebrating their civil partnership. Peggy takes the arm of Saul, and they walk off. Nathan and Pat stand there for a moment. Pat asks him if he is feeling wobbly? He says he is a bit. Pat takes his arm. She explains that she was wobbly the first time as well. She goes on to say, and the second and third an all. He smiles when she tells him even on the fourth time.
Libby is sitting in front of her computer. She begins to search for Chelsea’s Dad, nervously.
The wedding begins for Saul and Nathan. Peggy continues to work on Pat about moving to Spain on her own. She keeps telling Pat about falls and how dangerous it is all on her own. Pat snaps that it won’t happen. Saul begins his vows. Peggy tells Pat she will need a friend because otherwise, she will need to be stuck on the floor for days after the fall with no way to crawl to the phone. Nathan struggles through his vows and walks out of the wedding. Pat tells Peggy to shut up. Pat walks up to Saul and asks if he isn’t going to go after Nathan? Pat leaves Peggy to Saul, and she goes after Nathan. Peggy wonders if he’s not going to go after Nathan and talk to him? Saul doesn’t know what he would say to him. She tells him to go out there and drag him back in. He runs out as well. The officiant tells Peggy she can stay for another hour. Peggy tells her that she should tell them herself. The officiant says she’ll be in the bar. Peggy turns to chase after Saul.
Pat tells Nathan it’s just the jitters. Peggy tells Saul similarly. Pat says the question is, does he love Saul?
Libby continues to search.
Peggy tells Saul that Pat has probably calmed Nathan down by now with a drink. He should go fight for him. Saul says he shouldn’t have to fight for him. Saul says that Nathan should want to do this, and if not, he’s a free agent. Peggy says, “oh, please don’t give me that rubbish. She asks, “Do you love him? Do you want to marry him?” He says yes. She tells him to get in there and fight for him. He says no. Peggy says if that was her fellow trying to walk out on her, she’d be in there screaming and yelling so loud his ears would be hurting. Saul says he has to respect his individuality. Peggy tells him to be a man and go and talk to him. Saul says he has to wait until he wants to talk to him. Peggy tells him she doesn’t understand him at all.
Meanwhile, Pat is getting the root of why Nathan is worried. Saul wants to settle down and buy a house. Nathan says the whole domestic thing. All the domestic things and the world out there and them inside cozy up. Nathan says he wants to travel and live life, and Saul doesn’t like those things. Pat tells him that he has to tell Saul. She tells him he will have to take the risk and tell him. Peggy says that he is probably waiting for him. She says one of them has to make the first move. Saul says this isn’t a game. Peggy says he’ll have to give him a little nudge. Saul says he shouldn’t have to manipulate him into staying. Peggy says its persuade not manipulate. Saul says it’s the same thing. Peggy tells him if he’s not willing to fight for Nathan, then he’ll probably lose him, and that is all he deserves. Nathan comes around the corner calling for Saul.
Libby scrolls thought the names and wrote one down. She goes to give it to her and sees that Chelsea is with Clare. She doesn’t give her a piece of paper.
Peggy has a go at Pat for telling Nathan to go after his dreams instead of convincing him to marry Saul. Pat says that is not what she did at all. Peggy tells her she is selfish and always thinking of number one. Pat reminds Peggy they don’t know these blokes, and how does this relate to her being selfish? Peggy continues that she’s running off to Spain. when Pat stops her and says, “now we’re talking about Spain?” Peggy continues to unleash on Pat, “Putting Billy and Honey out on the streets.” Pat says, “they found a flat.” Peggy continues: Leaving Steven without his grandma. Pat says he was fine without her all those years. Peggy replies, “Walking out on your businesses.” Pat again replies they did ok without her. Pat asks Peggy what this is really all about. Peggy says, “You tell that bloke to walk out on his life just like you are walking out on yours.” Pat thinks she understands. She says to Peggy, “You don’t want me to go, do you?” Peggy laughs and says she couldn’t care less if she stayed or went. Pat turns to talk to Peggy. She asks how many years does she think she has left? Five good years? Ten at the outside? Peggy tells her she’s only 65. Pat says there is nothing only about 65. Pat tells her if she waits too long, it will too late to have fun in life. Peggy says it’s all she ever thinks about, having fun. Pat sits down and says, “let me tell you something about me and Spain. I’m scared.” Peggy says that she shouldn’t go then. Pat tells her that she’s more afraid of not going and trying. Because she’s afraid if she stays that in ten years she’ll be properly old, in a nursing home just another old lady plunked in front of her telly. Peggy tells Pat that won’t be her. Pat tells her it’s not as hard for her as she has family around. But her, well, she wants to do something with the time she has left. She says she wants to wake up in the morning to sunshine and a view of the sea (Pat’s voice cracks as she fights back the tears) She goes on “a little bar at the corner that sells cheap sangria and lots of it. Peggy says, “with your bloke sitting next to you.” Pat explains there is no bloke. Peggy tells her to pull her another one. Pat tells her, “Peggy, there is really no bloke.”
Saul and Nathan walk back up to them. They thank them for what they told them. Nathan explains they both shared their hearts with one another. Pat tells Peggy it looks like they are going to go through with it. Peggy asks Saul what he said to Nathan? Saul says that he told him that no matter what he decided, he still wanted to be friends. Peggy smiles and takes his arm
Chelsea and Clare make a plan to meet at the Vic later. They joke that they need a sugar daddy. Clare leaves, and Libby tells Chelsea she found him. Chelsea says, “what my Dad? you’re joking?” Libby says to remember he may have a whole new family, whole new life. What if he likes it that way? She asks, but that’s my Dad? Like where he lives and everything? Libby reminds her that he hasn’t seen her in twenty years. Chelsea says he won’t turn her away, though. He’ll be pleased to see her. Libby asks if she wants it as she holds out the paper.
Nathan takes his vows with Peggy and Pat smiling beside them. They toss flower petals at them as they prepare to leave. They toast to the happy couple. Peggy says she’s always liked Spain. Pat says she thought she was more of an Algarve girl. Peggy says she much prefers Algarve as it has more class, but she’ll come to see her in Spain. Pat says if she invites her. Peggy says she will because she might meet new friends, but she will always need someone to fight with. They laugh. Peggy goes on about the bloke again. Pat says his name is Cedric Ponsonby-Smythe. Peggy laughs and says, Cedric? Pat laughs and says, “do you know him?” The concierge asks Pat to meet a visitor in the lobby. They are laughing about Cedric when Pat sees Ricky. Ricky and Diane are there. Pat says, “It’s Frank, isn’t it? Something has happened to Frank!”
